Sesame Seed Poppers – Fun Easter Snack!

sesame seed poppers easter snack

200 grams of glutinous rice flour
20 grams rice flour
100 grams of white sugar
1/2 cup of cold water
a pinch or drop of vanilla powder or liquid
20 grams of sesame seeds
Canola oil or Vegetable oil

Mix all the flour, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl and mix while slowly adding 1/4 cup of cold water. Continue mixing. If more water is needed, pour the remainder of the 1/2 cup into the mix (the full 1/2 cup of water may not be needed). The mixture should not be too dry or too wet. You should be able to roll the mixture up into a ball with ease. Cover the bowl with a damp towel and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Using damp hands, roll nickel-sized amounts of the mixture into small shperical shapes. Next roll them one by one in a small bowl of sesame seeds until they are covered all around. Pour an inch or too of canola or vegetable oil into a small pot and set on medium high. Once the oil is hot (you can test it by using a small piece of any left over mixture), deep fry the balls until they are golden brown. Set them onto a plate covered with a paper towel to soak up the extra oils (optional).
